AWS Educate Launched to Support Learning Cloud Technologies

Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), today launched AWS Educate, an educational service for students and educators that prepares IT professionals, developers, and business staff to enter the cloud workforce.
AWS stated that cloud computing is changing the way businesses operate and driving innovation in organizations. AWS also said that there is a need to train more people in cloud technologies.
AWS Educate empowers educators, with tools and technologies to help students learn the skills to design and deploy applications on the AWS Cloud,” the company stated in a statement today.
Exec Jeff Barr explained in a blog post that this will be possible primarily because of four resources: grants for AWS credits to be used in courses and projects; free content you can embed in courses or use as-is; access free and discounted AWS Training resources; online and in-person collaboration opportunities and networking opportunities
Anyone can apply to the program from any country. Students and institutions who are officially enrolled in the program are eligible for additional discounts.
Teachers get access to a collaboration portal, AWS Essentials eLearning, and Online Labs for free. They also receive 50 percent off when they purchase instructor-led training or AWS Certification.
Online Labs are available to students, as well as a student portal. Students who belong to AWS Educate can also apply for $100 in credits.
AWS will also visit organizations that have signed up for the AWS Educate program in order to provide training, hackathons, and other events.
“We want do our part to help educational institutions around the world train and graduate students who can power the cloud-powered future. Barr stated.
Web-based training and self paced labs will help students get hands-on experience using AWS technologies. Teachers can also upload course resources to assist with this goal. The program is currently in testing and AWS Educate has already uploaded more than 100 resources from universities like Cornell Tech, Stanford University, and Harvard University.
Professor Zack Ives, for example, has given lectures, videos, and assignments from his Scalable & Cloud Computing class at Penn. The University of Toronto is participating in an Introduction to Cloud Computing class by Eyal de Lar and the University of Washington will be providing materials from Magdalena Balazinska’s Introduction to Data Management class.
Ives stated that she believes in course projects that fully apply what students have learned in class and decode the most popular services they use every single day. We give them real projects like a full-fledged social networking with friend recommendation or building a Web crawler/search engine. AWS Educate dramatically changes the scope of resources that we can make available to the project. Even in large classes, they see how to harness Hadoop, cloud key value stores, and clusters virtual machines.
He said, “This experience is crucial to give them the ability to succeed in future careers.” “I’m glad to share my coursework and look forward to learning more from fellow computer science professors.”

AWS Edges Azure is the Top Cloud Dev Platform for Analysts

According to Forrester Research’s Q2 2018 analysts report, it is a two-horse race to be the top “FullStack Public Cloud Development Platform”.
The Wave report compares seven top providers: Alibaba, Oracle, CenturyLink IBM, Google, Microsoft, and Microsoft. However, only the last three are included in the “Leaders” category. Microsoft’s Azure cloud is grouped at the top.
More and more application development and delivery (AD&D) pros are using cloud platforms these days, Forrester says, to take control of factors such as DevOps toolchains, languages, frameworks, containers, function-as-a-service, databases, security, myriad infrastructure services concerning storage and networking, and much more.
Providers are distinguished by their migration tools and services partly because more Web and analysis apps are becoming common on cloud via new development projects.

According to the report, “Forrester’s research revealed a market where AWS, Microsoft, Google, and others lead the pack.” “Oracle, IBM offer strong alternatives. Alibaba and CenturyLink are behind.
AWS leads the two-horse race slightly, as in many other studies that are based on different criteria like this one from Canalys or this one from Gartner.
Forrester states that AWS generates nearly three times the annual revenue of its closest competitor, Microsoft, and is rapidly expanding its network of customers, partners, data centers, and development services. AWS is a favourite of hard-core developers and is now reaching out to a wider development community with preconfigured services and service bundles and higher-level tools such as SageMaker for machine learning (ML) apps and Quicksight to assist in business analysis and reporting.
Forrester also cited Azure with its Azure ML service as a unique offering in machine learning, although it acknowledged that Microsoft trails AWS in natural-language processing.
Forrester stated that Microsoft has been a quick follower of AWS. This strategy propelled the vendor to a solid second place in public cloud development platforms. Microsoft’s expertise in coding tools and database has helped to distinguish AWS products from the rest of the industry. Microsoft also helps to drive cloud platform adoption by selling addons for its deeply embedded enterprise products, Office in particular. Azure offers a first-rate developer experience. This is a remarkable turnaround for the vendor in less than two years.
Google is now a new entrant to the Forrester Wave “Leaders”, section, although it is not among the top two. The research firm stated that the Google Cloud Platform is attracting more traditional enterprise customers due to its strong identity and access management, security, and database.
AWS was also ranked No. According to a 2015 Forrester report, AWS was also ranked No. 1 for cloud software development. This was based on a breakdown of developers into three types: coders and DevOps pros.

AWS Eases SaaS Contract Haggling

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has eased the process of upgrading and renewing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) contracts from independent software vendors (ISVs).
These vendors offer as-a-service services — for networking, storage and analytics — in the AWS Marketplace in a variety of plans. These include free trials, usage-based pricing models, and contracts that could last for one, two, or three years.
The SaaS contract scheme allows vendors to define parameters like usage categories and contract length. AWS states that users who use usage-based SaaS plans tend to start small and then look to upgrade or renew as their workload expands. This is easier than ever.
AWS spokesperson said that while the original contract is still in force, buyers can communicate directly with sellers to negotiate a Private Offer that best suits their needs. The offer can include additional entitlements, pricing discounts, a payment plan, a revised contract date, and changes to an end-user license agreement (EULA). All in accordance with the needs of a buyer.
“The new terms will take effect immediately after the buyer accepts the offer.” This streamline process eliminates the need for sellers to keep track of parallel (paper and electronic) contracts and ensures buyers receive consistent service.
All SaaS vendors, users and users can now access the new functionality. It applies to SaaS contracts as well as contracts with consumption pricing.

AWS enables server migration to the cloud from on-premises

Amazon Web Services (AWS), which automates and simplifies many tasks, has made it easier to migrate servers on-premises to the cloud.
It is called the AWS CloudEndure Migration Factory Solution. It leverages the CloudEndure Migration Service that provides an automated lift and shift solution with the goal to simplify and expedite cloud migrations while reducing costs.
The new AWS CloudEndure Migration Factory Solution, which uses that service, is designed to automate many manual migration processes.
“The solution automates many of the manual, time-consuming tasks that enterprises commonly face in migrating servers from on-premise to the cloud; for example, checking prerequisites on the source machine, installing/uninstalling software on the source and target machine,” AWS said.

This offering uses an AWS CloudFormation template (used to model and provide cloud infrastructure resources) to launch the cloud services required to help organizations migrate their servers. This template uses Amazon Elastic Container Service to create a web interface. It also uploads the code into an Amazon Simple Storage Service bucket (Amazon S3).
The company stated that the new solution is particularly useful for large organizations that need to migrate large numbers of servers faster and more efficiently.

AWS Eases.NET Defes with CLI Tool Preview Amazon Web Services (AWS), this week released the first preview for an open-source.NET deployment tool for.NET CLI. This tool is designed to make it easier to deploy.NET Web apps on its cloud. It is described on the GitHub site as opinionated tooling that helps even novice users deploy.NET applications. The tool recommends the best AWS compute service to deploy your app to. The tool then builds and packages your app according to the requirements of the chosen compute service. It generates the deployment infrastructure and deploys your application using the Cloud Development Kit (CDK). Finally, it displays the endpoint. It supports C# and F# code, and can be used with.NET Core/.NET5 Web apps, back end services, and Blazor webAssembly, according to a March 17 blog posting. The supported apps are “cloud native” and run on Linux-based virtualized computing services. This means developers don’t need to worry about legacy Windows baggage. This means that the tool doesn’t work with:

  • .NET Framework (for these apps, there’s also the.NET Porting Assistance).
  • Desktop
  • Xamarin
  • Other Windows-native Applications

It doesn’t also support.NET AWS Lambda function, but that tooling will be added eventually. AWS stated that it is seeking customer feedback to improve its.NET app deployment process in light of the increasing complexity of AWS and.NET environments. This was apparently due to the fact that the process was too difficult to use existing tools. The feedback could be summarized into three questions, according to the team.

  • What is the best service for my application? There are many compute services available in AWS. It can be confusing to choose the right one if you’re new to AWS.
  • How can I make the learning curve shorter? There is still much to learn once you have chosen a compute service. It can be both overwhelming and time-consuming.
  • How can I encourage the best deployment practices in my team? Visual Studio is great for prototyping, initial testing, and deployment. Customers want to share their best practices with other teams once they have moved beyond this phase. This is why automated deployments are used.

AWS said that this resulted in a 180-degree shift in the company’s approach. “Instead of providing a plethora for compute services, we want a single tool that starts at the.NET app; a tool which provides an opinion and guides to the right service to your application.” AWS noted that the developer preview addresses only the first two items from the feedback list. The second item is “How can I promote best deployment practices within our team?” The AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) will be used to address these issues. The initial experience will be completely managed, but developers will soon be able to gain a better understanding of the features and functionality. More information is available here.

AWS Eases.NET App Deployment Developers who deploy.NET applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS), can now enjoy a simplified, guided experience with a wizard that suggests compute and other options. The new “Publish to AWS” wizard is available in the AWS Toolkit 2022 in Visual Studio Marketplace. It has been downloaded more than 45,000 times. It is also available for command line enthusiasts, as it works with AWS Deploy tool for.NET NuGet package. “Publish to AWS” is an interactive deployment experience that helps you publish your.NET applications on AWS deployment targets, supporting.NET Core 3.1 or later,” AWS explains in the “Working with Publish To AWS in Visual Studio” documentation. “Working with Publish To AWS allows you to keep your work flow within Visual Studio by making these deployment capabilities available directly from your IDE:

  • You can deploy your application in just one click.
  • Based on your application, we will recommend deployment options.
  • Automatic Dockerfile creation as required by your deployment destination’s environment.
  • Optimized settings to build and package your applications according to your deployment target.

Amazon stated in a blog post on July 6, that “With sensible defaults for all deployment options, you can now get.NET applications up and running in just a click or with a few simple steps — without needing to have deep expertise in AWS.” You will be given recommendations on the best compute for your application.   • You can create repeatable and shareable AWS CDK deployment projects. Then you can modify them to suit your particular use-case. You can then version control them and share them with your team to make repeatable deployments.
  • Integration with CI/CD — disable interactive features and use different deployment settings for pushing the same application bundle to different environments.
  • Assistance with learning AWS CDK to.NET • Learn the AWS tools it is built upon, such as AWS CDK.

AWS stated that you can deploy ASP.NET Core apps, long-running services, and Web Assembly applications built with.NET Core 3.1 or higher, including the.NET 7 preview. “At the time this release, we support deployments of Amazon Elastic Container Service, (Amazon ECS), using AWS Fargate compute engine and AWS App Runner. Blazor WebAssembly apps can be hosted in Amazon S3 via Amazon CloudFront as a content delivery system (CDN). The new experience works with Amazon Elastic Container Service, (Amazon ECS), which uses AWS Fargate compute engine and AWS App Runner. GCP is built on Google’s vast, cutting-edge infrastructure which handles all traffic and work of all Google users. There is a wide range of services available in GCP ranging from Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) to completely managed Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). We will be discussing the infrastructure components available and how they can provide a strong and flexible foundation upon which to build your applications. Sample Google Compute Engine (Virtual Machines). Hosted virtual machines (VMs) are often the first thing people think about when moving to the cloud. GCP offers many ways to run your apps, such as App Engine Container Engine or Cloud Functions. However, VMs offer developers and architects the most straightforward transition to the cloud. Google Compute Engine (GCE), supports both Linux and Windows virtual machines. You can either use Google-maintained images to provision VMs, or import images from your existing infrastructure. A common practice is to create a new image using the VM from an image that you have created. This creates a pre-baked image that you can quickly deploy, without waiting for the software to install before the VM can start doing valuable work. Another strategy is to put a common set or tools into an image. This will allow you to quickly create a “golden image” that you can share with your development teams for their applications. There are many cost-saving strategies that can help you save a lot of money on cloud infrastructure and applications. Preemptible instances, for example, is a unique feature that can reduce the cost of running a VM up to 80 percent. Preemptible instances are a normal VM, except that Google can decide it has the capacity back and delete it without asking. This is possible if your applications are fault-tolerant and can lose a node without interruption. Common use cases include having a number of preemptible VMs that are all working on the same tasks. If one VM is deleted during a task, the work is shifted over to another VM. GCP also offers cost-saving features such as per-minute billing and committed use discounts. A Data Fortress

This is the first part of a series on Google Cloud Platform. Part I will discuss GCP security infrastructure.
You might be wondering what makes GCP so appealing to companies like Spotify, Apple, Evernote, Evernote, Evernote, and Netflix. Despite Google’s late entry into the public cloud business in 2011, they have a long-running history with high-demand services such as Google Search and Google Maps. This is built on their custom-made infrastructure. It proves that they can offer world-class products that we all depend upon. Google Cloud Platform is an expansion of their existing services. However, the backbone of these products and the company philosophy is to ensure data safety.
Google’s years of experience as a target for hackers and denial-of-service bots has made them a leader in security. Google built a sophisticated security infrastructure that few other companies or organizations can match. Google views security holistically. It covers everything from the physical data centres, to the data pipelines connecting them, and down to the training of each employee responsible for managing the infrastructure.
Let’s take a look at the security infrastructure one by one and see how Google has built a data fortress.

The Human Element
It’s useless if your employees don’t understand security. Google employees are given extensive training in security issues from the very beginning of their job. Google continues to strengthen their “security culture” by hosting security conferences and training.
Google Access Transparency is a tool that allows you to see in real-time logs how GCP administrators access your content. This includes during support events you initiate. It integrates with StackDriver and allows you to include the GCP administrator monitoring access in your regular monitoring routinet. Additional data protection controls are included to limit Google’s access to your data, except for when it is necessary to fulfill their contractual obligations to them. Google has already committed to keeping your data secure, but it is comforting to know that there are controls for you to verify and trust.
Physical Security
There are many types of physical security, from locks to redundancies. The data centers have the most advanced security features, including multi-factor authentication and biometrics for anyone who has access to the floor. The data centers are protected by highly-trained, well-vetted security personnel. The power is redundant. It comes from at least two sources equal with backup generators. Overheating can cause hardware failures, and cooling systems prevent heat from causing fire detection and suppression systems to stop fires. They also use the most environmentally friendly technologies to reduce their power consumption, and rely less on the grid.
Google custom-designs hardware and manufactures it to minimize vulnerabilities found on public hardware. They also customized the Linux-based OS to provide the most secure and fault-tolerant environment while still being flexible enough to meet customer needs. The custom software monitors the system for any modifications and returns it to the original image if detected. This ensures that the system is always running smoothly.
Google closely monitors all hardware to ensure that data is not removed by anyone else. They use a multi-stage process to extract data from malfunctioning drives and then secure destroy the drives before they can be recycled.
