A Change In Altitude Written By Anita ShrevePosted by Cy Hilterman. Published on Oct 20, 2009 Climbing Mount Kenya sounded like a real challenge to Margaret and Patrick, especially when they had never climbed a mountain before. They had been in Kenya for several months, getting used to some of the customs, climate, and various groups of people living around them, and were enjoying most all of their experiences. A mountain climb sounded great. Book Review – East Of The Mountains By David GutersonPosted by Daniel Breedlove. Published on Oct 08, 2009 When you first look at the cover of East of the Mountains by David Guterson, you see a dark gray sky with barren mountains and a field full of dying grass. Throughout the picture runs a gravel road which passes an apple orchard on the way to the mountains in the background. The cover provides a good visual of the story that Guterson tells. This is a story of a doctor named Ben Givens who was recently diagnosed with terminal colon cancer. He has three months to live, and intends to travel east of the mountains to end his life on his own terms. The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas – A Novel By John BoynePosted by Helen X Davies. Published on Aug 17, 2009 "Blonde Roots" by Bernardine Evaristo is a provocative and powerful alternate history that asks the question – what if Europeans had been enslaved by Africans? She satirizes preconceived ideas of race and culture by turning history inside out and upside down. Twilight Gives Jacob Black A Good StoryPosted by Phoebe Balde. Published on Aug 08, 2009 The story of Jacob Black starts when Bella purposefully flirts with him in an attempt to reveal his knowledge of the Cullens. Their friendship strengthened on the second installment in the saga, New Moon, when Bella needed a diversion from her anguish about Edward's absence. Unable to resist Jacob's presence, Bella suddenly finds herself becoming inseparable from him with a bond that becomes stronger and stronger. Book Review Of The Handmaid's Tale By Margaret AtwoodPosted by Shawn B. Published on Aug 05, 2009 In somewhat of an ironic turn, one year after Orwell's 1984 was assumed to have happened, Canadian writer Margaret Atwood publishes her take on the abysmal dystopic future with The Handmaid's Tale. Set in a similar hopeless world as 1984, the novel follows Offred (who's name the reader is never given) and her life as a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead. Once a woman has committed a sexual crime (in Offred's case, she was married to a man who was divorced) she is declared a "fallen woman" who is sent to train as a concubine … Over Time – A Story Of Lost Loves, Found Glory, And Business TreacheryPosted by Corey Landis. Published on Jul 15, 2009 What if you could re-live your favorite NFL game memory? You can … the legends live on in the suspenseful novel "Over Time" (ISBN 0974075418) by Brian Hill and Dee Power, authors of the popular book, "The Making of a Bestseller." "Over Time," the drama of high finance, hostile takeovers and vicious venture capitalists is interwoven with an emotionally engaging, nostalgic football story about friendships that last forever. Villa Incognito Book ReviewPosted by Tonia Jordan. Published on Apr 27, 2009 Coming up with a summary of any Tom Robbins novel is a difficult task, and this novel, Villa Incognito, his eighth, is particularly hard to summarize. It starts with a mythological creature, a Tanuki. What ensues is a convoluted adventure of which I'm not positive Robbins even knows the entire story. The novel makes for a fun, albeit vague, read.
