InternationalInternational Articles
International relations is a very diverse field, and justly so because there is nothing simple about the interplay of global issues and foreign affairs among states belonging to one international system. International issues may arise over something as academic as brain drain or as political as the wars in Iraq. International relations, and international issues for that matter, touch upon and involve such divergent fields as economics, law, history, sociology, geography, psychology, and urban studies. It implicates a whole host of issues such as ecological sustainability, economic development, organized crime, human rights, and even globalization in general. The articles in this section are all about international relations and issues.

The New Seven Wonders Of WorldPosted by Charles Taylor on February 27, 2010 In the period of more than 125 years from the beginning of the 19th century, the creation of some of the world's most remarkable adventures of engineering were identified. These are now popularly known as great wonders of the world explaining so much about human creativity and the determination of the human spirit as they create out of technological effort. Mexican Marine Families Revenge Slaying Shocks The World And 4 Members Of The Feared Leyva Drug CartPosted by Michael Webster on December 30, 2009 The military precision type pre-dawn attack came just hours after the navy honored Mexican Marine Melquisedet Angulo as a national hero at a memorial service for his part in the successful attack on the powerful Arturo Beltran Leyva family which killed the leader."The message is very clear: It's to intimidate not only the government but its flesh and blood," said Jorge Chabat, a Mexican expert on drug cartels. "It's to intimidate those in the armed forces so they fear not only for their own lives, but also for the lives of their families.” International Cost Of Living Rankings – 1 April 2009Posted by Steven Coleman on September 26, 2009 In December 2008 London was ranked the 6th most expensive place in the world for expatriates to live, having been ranked 1st a year before. As at April 2009 London is the 23rd most expensive place in the world for expatriates. This does not mean that the cost of living for expatriates living in London has decreased significantly, what it does mean is that relative to other places in the world, London is no longer as expensive as it was in recent years. What makes London's cost of living relatively lower than it was is mainly due to the increase in the cost of living elsewhere together with the weaker British Pound. Mixing A New Curry – 3 Steps To An Economic Quantum Leap For IndiaPosted by Jan Peter Aursnes on September 13, 2009 One of my predictions is that the new middle class of the world in a generation or two ahead will be in India while the current middle classes of the traditional western world will diminish. Create or disintegrate. This will naturally represent a major shift in the world economies. The western world does not perceive this as threat and is fairly relaxed about its coming for some currently obvious reasons. World Human Rights Day – More Than Mere Celebrations!Posted by Jayashankar V S on August 25, 2009 The horrors of the Second World War shook the entire world! Besides thousands of precious lives lost, the world witnessed perhaps the most gruesome violation of human rights during the time. In a way the war was a wake up call for the entire world. In 1945, the founding member nations of the then newly formed United Nations came together to draft many radical laws to protect and promote the basic human rights of its citizens. Eu Issues Bank Rescue Guidance And CommunicationPosted by Karl E Hindle on August 11, 2009 Restructuring and rescuing failing banks has become de rigeur over the last year for governments around the world. The European Commission has issued a "Guidance" on bank rescues which is to be followed until December 31st, 2010 – in that respect it is temporary (and gives an insight into how long such adverse economic conditions are thought to going to be lasting by the EU Commission). Changes In The New Bolivian Constitution Strengthen The Power Of The Indigenous Majority In BoliviaPosted by Luis Valle on July 25, 2009 On February 7th, 2009, Bolivian President Evo Morales Ayma enacted the new Bolivian Constitution that, among its most important changes, grants more power to the indigenous citizens, opens the way for regional autonomies, and consolidates the country's control over the economy. Ireland's Last CallPosted by Evin Daly on May 9, 2009 Ireland is caught between a rock and hard place – no doubt. Since 1996 it has benefited from the gift of unprecedented – by Irish standards – economic growth fueled by a number of external factors. Chinese Raw Material Companies Continue On Acquisition TrailPosted by Paul Harper on February 23, 2009 Although all the news lately has focused on Chinalco's recent financing deal with Rio Tinto, Chinese raw material firms are still looking far & wide for new opportunities, as discussed in our December article : China stocks up on raw materials. Other state owned / controlled corporations are looking at South Africa & South America as well as assets in Australia. As there is flurry of activity & reporting on the Rio Tinto deal, a look at some of the other activities would is warranted.
